Head Housekeeper – Country House Hotel

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Head Housekeeper to lead the housekeeping team at a beautiful independent country house hotel in Burley, Hampshire. You will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation across guest rooms, public areas, and laundry facilities, working closely with the General Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all housekeeping operations, including guest rooms, public spaces, and laundry.
• Recruit, train, and manage a high‑performing housekeeping team.
• Create efficient rotas, monitor workloads and ensure smooth daily operations.
• Conduct regular inspections of rooms and public areas to uphold quality standards.
• Manage inventory of linen, cleaning supplies, and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety and COSHH regulations.
• Collaborate with front‑of‑house and maintenance teams.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Head Housekeeper or Supervisor in a hotel setting (essential).
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational abilities.
• Hands‑on leadership style with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment with fluctuating occupancy.

Required skills

• Knowledge of health & safety and COSHH regulations.
