Head of Accounting (Finance Manager)

About the role

Airbus Helicopters UK (AHUK) is seeking a Head of Accounting to lead its finance function at the Oxford site. The role combines strategic oversight of financial operations with hands‑on responsibility for statutory reporting, tax compliance and audit liaison.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee end‑to‑end finance operations, including financial analysis and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Improve finance procedures and internal controls.
• Lead all internal and external audits and act as the primary liaison with auditors.
• Prepare and issue accurate monthly financial accounts and ensure timely month‑end closing.
• Ensure statutory accounts comply with UK GAAP and IFRS.
• Prepare deferred tax packs for Group accounting and corporation‑tax packs for tax advisors.
• Manage VAT returns, payments and other statutory filings such as ONS surveys.
• Collaborate with other departments on customs tariff and related financial matters.

Required profile

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS.
• Experience with VAT compliance and corporate tax reporting.
• Proficiency in preparing statutory accounts and audit documentation.
• Ability to conduct balance‑sheet reconciliations and financial analysis.
