Head of Business Data & Technology Management (Markets COO)

About the role

The Head of Business Data & Technology Management will lead Citi’s Markets division in shaping and governing its data and technology agenda. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, Markets, this senior leader will act as the primary operational bridge between Markets, Technology and Data functions, ensuring that technology demand is managed and that data is treated as a strategic asset.

Key responsibilities

• Define and enhance data quality, ownership, lineage, and regulatory readiness frameworks for Markets‑specific datasets.
• Implement standards for data accessibility, scalability and AI‑readiness across the division.
• Own the response to regulatory data requests, audits and internal inquiries, coordinating with Enterprise Data, Risk and Compliance.
• Identify, improve and expand Markets data assets, driving metadata, taxonomy and schema development to increase discoverability and reuse.
• Provide strategic advisory to Markets leadership on data‑related opportunities, translating business needs into technology solutions.
• Coordinate technology demand and delivery lifecycle, consolidating requests across business lines and shaping road‑maps.
• Serve as the central point of expertise on data strategy and architecture, promoting consistent, reusable solutions.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in data governance, technology strategy or related fields within a financial services environment.
• Deep understanding of regulatory data requirements and experience managing audit or compliance processes.
• Strong advisory capability, able to influence senior business stakeholders and translate complex requirements into actionable solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional teams and drive large‑scale data and technology initiatives.
