Head of Commercial Insurance

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic Head of Commercial Insurance to lead our commercial insurance team at a fast‑growing brokerage in Bristol. Reporting to the Sales Director, you will combine hands‑on selling with strategic leadership to drive new‑business growth and nurture the next generation of insurance professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and inspire the Commercial team to meet ambitious new‑business and revenue targets.
• Develop and execute strategies to increase high‑quality commercial insurance enquiries and maximise conversion rates.
• Personally acquire and manage larger, complex or strategically important commercial clients.
• Coach, mentor and develop team members through regular one‑to‑one meetings, sales coaching and performance reviews.
• Foster a high‑performance sales culture built on accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Identify training needs and implement development plans to enhance technical knowledge and sales capability.
• Monitor individual and team performance using key sales and quality metrics.
• Collaborate with marketing and senior management to optimise lead generation and lead quality.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with insurer partners to secure the best outcomes for clients.

Required profile

• Proven commercial insurance sales professional with a track record of winning new business.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing sales teams.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to engage with complex corporate clients.
• Excellent communication and coaching skills.
• Self‑starter who thrives in a fast‑paced, growth‑focused environment.
