Head of Communications – 6‑Month Fixed‑Term for Leading UK Charity

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Head of Communications to lead strategic communications and fundraising campaigns for one of the UK’s most recognised charities on a six‑month fixed‑term basis. This senior role will shape narrative, drive impact‑focused messaging and represent the communications function at the highest level of the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute communications planning, narrative development and overall strategy.
• Line‑manage and mentor an existing communications team, raising confidence and output quality.
• Drive awareness and fundraising communications with a focus on impact messaging.
• Apply strong editorial judgement across all channels and formats.
• Translate complex data into clear, compelling communications.
• Represent the communications function at senior leadership meetings.

Required profile

• Seasoned senior communications professional with a solid background in the charity or mission‑led sector, especially awareness and fundraising.
• Proven experience leading and developing teams with strong line‑management credentials.
• Highly collaborative with executive presence to engage senior stakeholders.
• Comfortable operating in complex, matrixed organisations during periods of change.
• Flexible working model with access to a London office.
