Head of Decommissioning – Warrington or Westlakes (Hybrid)

About the role

The Head of Decommissioning will lead Orano Limited’s Decommissioning department in the UK, ensuring sustainable growth and successful delivery of all nuclear decommissioning projects. The role is hybrid, based in Warrington or Westlakes, and combines strategic leadership with hands‑on technical oversight.

Key responsibilities

• Line‑manage team leaders and principal engineers, handling recruitment, performance and development planning.
• Identify resource needs, allocate staff to projects and work with the Head of Operations to optimise deployment.
• Develop and maintain a discipline strategy that aligns with the wider business strategy and account plans.
• Engage proactively with external networks and industry stakeholders to secure new business and grow revenue.
• Support Sales & Marketing in business development and bidding, providing technical input for proposals.
• Collaborate with non‑UK (primarily French) teams to leverage Group capabilities.
• Deliver decommissioning technical work on a chargeable basis and oversee project delivery, acting as escalation point for issues.
• Work closely with Waste Management, Nuclear Safety, Engineering and the Project Management Office.

Required profile

• Strong background in nuclear decommissioning and dismantling.
• Proven experience leading challenging decommissioning projects in the UK nuclear industry (minimum 10 years).
• Demonstrated success in securing new nuclear decommissioning contracts.
• Leadership and people‑management experience.
• Degree in Nuclear, Chemical, Process, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
