Head of Design (Structural Steel)

About the role

We are seeking a Head of Design with a structural steel background to lead a small team of design engineers and 3D CAD designers. Reporting to the Directors, you will ensure that design packages are delivered on time across residential, logistics and commercial projects while working closely with in‑house project managers and main contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a team of three Design Engineers and 3D CAD Designers.
• Guarantee project deadlines are met and designs are completed to schedule.
• Review design work, provide training and guidance to the team.
• Liaise with internal Project Managers and client representatives.
• Collaborate with main contractors such as Vinci, GallifordTry and Berkeley Group on turn‑key structural steel solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Design Manager, Head of Design or similar in structural steel.
• Strong leadership and people‑management capabilities.
• Ability to deliver high‑quality designs within tight timeframes.
