Head of DevOps & Platform Engineering

About the role

This senior leadership position will shape the DevOps and Platform Engineering function for a fast‑growing enterprise. You will own the strategy, delivery and operational management of tooling, automation and cloud platforms, ensuring reliability and performance across a large‑scale environment.

Key responsibilities

• Define and deliver the DevOps and Platform Engineering roadmap.
• Lead DevOps, Platform Engineering and Automation teams across the UK and offshore locations.
• Drive adoption of CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code and automation‑first principles.
• Oversee availability, performance, security and scalability of cloud and tooling platforms.
• Support major transformation programmes and cloud initiatives.
• Manage technology suppliers and strategic delivery partners.
• Own governance, service performance, risk management and compliance.
• Manage budgets, resource planning and cloud cost optimisation.

Required profile

• Extensive experience leading DevOps, Platform Engineering or Cloud Engineering teams in large enterprises.
• Deep understanding of Azure cloud technologies and cloud‑native operating models.
• Proven track record delivering CI/CD, automation and Infrastructure as Code at scale.
• Experience managing geographically distributed teams and third‑party suppliers.
• Strong stakeholder management with the ability to influence senior business and technology leaders.
• Background in large‑scale cloud transformation or platform engineering programmes.
