Head of Finance – Hybrid, Romford

About the role

We are partnering with a respected, purpose‑driven charity to recruit a Head of Finance to join its Senior Leadership Team. The role will provide strategic financial leadership, shape long‑term financial sustainability and support the delivery of vital community services. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Resources, you will lead the finance function in a hybrid working environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop the Finance team.
• Provide strategic financial advice and insight to the Senior Leadership Team and Board of Trustees.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes.
• Ensure robust financial controls, governance and compliance with charity and statutory requirements.
• Oversee statutory reporting, annual audits and regulatory returns.
• Drive continuous improvement across finance processes, systems and reporting.
• Support the organisation's sustainability and future growth through effective financial management.

Required profile

• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent).
• Experience in the charity or not‑for‑profit sector with strong understanding of charity accounting, governance and financial reporting.
• Proven experience leading or developing finance teams and building relationships with senior stakeholders.
• Strong technical accounting skills, including budgeting, forecasting, management accounts and statutory reporting.
• Ability to translate complex financial information into clear insight for decision‑making.
• Experience driving process improvements and supporting organisational change.
