Head of Finance – Lead Finance Function

About the role

We are seeking an experienced, commercially‑minded Head of Finance to lead the finance function of a growing SME. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will provide strategic financial leadership, deliver high‑quality management information and support business growth through acquisitions and corporate transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the finance function, ensuring robust financial controls, compliance and statutory reporting.
• Oversee cash flow, treasury and working capital management and manage relationships with auditors, banks, tax and legal advisers.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and monthly management reporting, developing KPIs, dashboards and financial analysis.
• Partner with operational teams to improve profitability, margins and overall business performance.
• Support strategic planning, conduct financial evaluation, due diligence and integration of acquisitions, and prepare the business for future investment or sale.
• Develop, mentor and manage the finance team while driving continuous improvement of finance systems, processes and reporting.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Significant senior finance leadership experience within an SME or fast‑growing business.
• Strong commercial acumen with excellent budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling abilities.
• Proven experience in business partnering, cash flow management and financial controls.
• Experience of acquisitions, corporate transactions or investment activity is highly desirable.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
