Head of Financial Planning & Business Partnering

About the role

The Head of Financial Planning & Business Partnering will lead a high‑performing finance team within a dynamic organisation, driving strategic financial planning and business partnering across the enterprise.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and report on medium‑term financial projections and the annual budget for senior leadership.
• Coordinate the annual revenue budget process, working with service areas to set a balanced budget.
• Produce comprehensive monitoring and performance reports on agreed timescales.
• Engage with internal stakeholders, including members, corporate management and senior managers, to align financial insight with business priorities.
• Report to members and finance colleagues through directorate management teams, oversight boards and scrutiny committees.
• Lead and develop a team of approximately 25 accounting and financial systems professionals.

Required profile

• Professional accountancy qualification (e.g., CIPFA) and extensive senior‑level finance experience.
• Proven ability to provide strategic financial advice and insight to support decision‑making.
• Strong communication and people‑management skills with a focus on detail and accuracy.
• Demonstrated capability to lead teams through change and continuous improvement.
