Head of Innovation – Malting Manufacturing

About the role

The Head of Innovation will lead the strategic execution of new product and process initiatives for a leading malting manufacturing business in Scotland. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will work closely with cross‑functional teams to turn ideas into scalable, profitable solutions that keep the product catalogue relevant and competitive.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the company’s innovation plan, prioritising projects and managing stage‑gate decisions.
• Collaborate with the Leadership Team to align innovation resources with strategic objectives.
• Mentor and lead the innovation team, ensuring performance targets are met.
• Drive creativity and technical expertise to support customer projects and new product development.
• Apply global market insight and regulatory awareness to identify and prioritise innovation opportunities.

Required profile

• More than 10 years of senior leadership experience in production, innovation or analytical roles within food, beverage or related sectors.
• Strong scientific background with a focus on food technology, brewing or distilling.
• Advanced palate or sensory training.
• Proven ability to operate in ambiguous environments and deliver profitable outcomes.
