Head of Marketing

About the role

As Head of Marketing you will lead the marketing function for both Paignton Zoo in Devon and Newquay Zoo in Cornwall. Reporting to the Senior Leadership Team, you will shape strategy, drive visitor numbers and revenue, and champion the conservation mission of the zoos.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a unified marketing strategy across both sites to increase ticket sales, memberships, events and ancillary spend.
• Plan, launch and optimise multi‑channel campaigns (digital, print, PR, social, email, outdoor) and own ROI reporting.
• Build and develop the marketing team, ensuring capability in digital, campaign management and brand consistency.
• Maintain brand positioning and visual identity, safeguarding brand standards across all communications.
• Analyse visitor feedback and performance data to continuously improve marketing effectiveness.
• Represent the zoos at tourism forums, media outlets and agency partners.
• Participate in a duty management rota, covering occasional weekends and bank holidays.

Required profile

• Proven leadership of a marketing function in leisure, hospitality, visitor attractions or retail.
• Track record of delivering revenue‑driving strategies and multi‑channel campaigns.
• Experience managing budgets, reporting on ROI and using data‑driven decision making.
• Strong commercial mindset with the ability to build external relationships.
