Health Visitor – Children and Families

About the role

The Health Visitor will work autonomously within the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, delivering specialist health visiting services to children and families in the Eastwood area. Reporting to the multi‑disciplinary team, you will manage a caseload, provide health promotion, parenting support and intervene in complex situations such as child protection or domestic abuse.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan and deliver health visiting interventions for children and families, using evidence‑based practice.
• Develop, implement and monitor multi‑agency child plans in line with NHS policies.
• Provide specialised advice on parenting, health promotion, immunisation and psycho‑social support.
• Identify and respond to high‑level issues including child protection, domestic abuse, addictions and chronic illness.
• Delegate, supervise and review work of team members within the caseload.
• Collaborate with professionals across health, social care and education to meet public health objectives.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
• Post‑graduate qualification in Health Visiting or Public Health Nursing (SCPHN).
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage a caseload.
• Strong communication and partnership skills with families and multi‑agency teams.
