Heavy Plant Fitter – HGV & Plant Maintenance Engineer

About the role
An established industrial operation in South East England is seeking an experienced Heavy Plant Fitter to maintain a mixed fleet of HGVs and site plant equipment. The role is hands‑on, day‑shift (50 hours/week) and offers exposure to a diverse range of specialist machinery in a fast‑paced environment.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out servicing, inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs on HGVs and plant equipment.
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults.
- Conduct routine safety checks and prepare equipment for statutory inspections.
- Maintain accurate service and maintenance records.
- Attend local breakdowns and emergency repairs as required.
Required profile
- NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance, Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a time‑served engineer in plant, quarrying, construction materials, industrial processing or heavy engineering.
- Strong fault‑finding skills across diesel engines, hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical systems.
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
