Help Desk Operative – Hospital Support (Southampton)

About the role
Berry Recruitment is seeking a Help Desk Operative to provide front‑line support at Southampton General Hospital. The role covers a maternity‑cover contract and requires flexibility to work across all days of the week.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for information and communication between the hospital and its users.
- Receive Service Centre requests via telephone, email and reception from all hospital service areas.
- Record call details in the designated database, track actions taken and follow up on outcomes.
- Utilise specific software and databases to manage and resolve queries.
- Provide backup as a trained ward host when staffing shortages arise.
Required profile
- Computer literate with a good understanding of Microsoft Office.
- Consistently delivers excellent customer service.
- Capable of working both as part of a busy team and independently.
- Willing to undergo a basic DBS check.

- Hourly rate of £12.71.
- Fixed‑term maternity cover contract with flexible Monday‑to‑Sunday shifts.
