HGV Driver – Full‑time Permanent

About the role

DPD is looking for a reliable HGV Driver to join its national transport team in Carlisle. You will be responsible for moving bulk collections between DPD sites and major customers across the UK, ensuring timely and safe deliveries.

Key responsibilities

• Execute nationwide collections and deliveries, focusing on HGV‑friendly locations.
• Manage trailer swaps and oversee live loading/unloading to keep the network moving.
• Use GPS and digital tachograph systems to plan routes and maintain 100% compliance.
• Maintain professional relationships with dispatchers and customers.
• Conduct thorough vehicle inspections and prioritize safe driving in all conditions.

Required profile

• Valid UK Class 1 (Category CE) licence with CPC and digital tachograph card.
• At least 6 months experience driving Class 1 vehicles.
• Excellent geographical knowledge of UK roads and a safety‑first mindset.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and align with DPD values of passion, respect, honesty, flexibility, caring and accountability.
