HGV Driver – Full‑time Permanent Role

About the role

DPD is seeking a reliable HGV Driver to join its national transport team in Carlisle. You will operate a modern fleet, handling bulk collections and deliveries between DPD sites and major customers across the UK.

Key responsibilities

• Execute nationwide collections and deliveries, focusing on HGV‑friendly locations.
• Manage trailer swaps and oversee live loading/unloading to keep the network moving.
• Use GPS and digital tachograph equipment to plan routes and ensure 100% compliance.
• Maintain professional relationships with dispatchers and customers.
• Conduct thorough vehicle inspections and prioritize safety in all conditions.

Required profile

• Valid UK Class 1 (Category CE) licence with CPC and digital tachograph cards.
• Minimum six months experience driving Class 1 vehicles.
• Strong geographical knowledge of UK roads and a safety‑first mindset.
• Ability to work under pressure, solve problems and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with GPS navigation systems.
• Experience using digital tachograph equipment.
