Highly Specialist Family & Systemic Psychotherapist (Band 8a)

About the role

We are seeking a full‑time Band 8a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist to join the Specialist Children’s Services within North CAMHS. Based at Woodside Health and Care Centre, you will work with children and young people up to 18 years old and their families who present with complex mental health difficulties.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver autonomous, evidence‑based systemic assessments and therapies.
• Lead and supervise Band 7 systemic psychotherapists.
• Provide consultation and advice to CAMHS colleagues, multi‑agency partners and carers.
• Contribute to service development, research, audit and quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, supervision sessions and training activities.

Required profile

• Masters‑level qualification in Family and Systemic Psychotherapy.
• Registration with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
• Significant post‑qualification experience in systemic practice.
• Advanced clinical leadership, supervision and multi‑agency working skills.
• Desirable: AFSP approved supervisor status, teaching/training experience, proven research and service‑development record.
