Hire Controller – Operations & Customer Service

About the role

The Hire Controller is a front‑line operations role based in Speedy's Manchester depot. You will manage the full hire lifecycle – from order taking to delivery and collection – ensuring customers receive the right equipment on time.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the entire hire process, liaising with stock teams, drivers and engineers.
• Process orders, schedule deliveries and collections, and monitor progress to minimise delays.
• Maintain accurate records and communicate status updates to customers and internal teams.
• Support the depot’s ESG strategy and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong organisational and verbal/written communication skills.
• Adaptability and a commitment to learning and development.
• Valid driving licence.
• Previous experience in the hire industry or a similar sales/operational role.
