Housekeeper

About the role

As a Housekeeper at Berkshire Independent Hospital you will help create a clean, safe environment for patients, visitors and staff. You will be responsible for maintaining high hygiene standards across all hospital areas, supporting the delivery of high‑quality patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect patient wards, operating theatres, corridors and public areas following infection‑control protocols.
• Ensure all equipment and surfaces meet the hospital’s hygiene standards.
• Manage your own workload, prioritising tasks to meet daily cleaning schedules.
• Report any maintenance or safety issues to the facilities team.
• Collaborate with clinical and support staff to minimise disruption to patient care.

Required profile

• Warm, considerate and empathetic character.
• Strong customer‑service orientation, as the role is patient‑facing.
• Flexible, can‑do attitude with the ability to adapt to a changing environment.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Understanding of hospital infection‑prevention processes is advantageous.
