Housekeeper

About the role

We are seeking a reliable Housekeeper to join our team at a college campus in Cambridge. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness across student bedrooms, guest rooms, bathrooms and shared spaces, ensuring a welcoming environment for students, conference delegates and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and prepare student bedrooms, guest accommodation, bathrooms and communal areas to an exceptional standard.
• Make beds, set up rooms for arrivals and ensure all furnishings are tidy.
• Maintain offices, stairways, corridors and public spaces according to cleaning schedules.
• Replenish cleaning supplies and monitor stock levels.
• Use cleaning equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to COSHH and manual‑handling procedures.
• Report any maintenance issues, damages or health‑and‑safety concerns promptly.
• Provide cover for colleagues during leave or sickness and work across multiple college sites when required.
• Attend training sessions and team meetings to support ongoing development.

Required profile

• Previous experience in cleaning or housekeeping (hotel, college or similar environment preferred).
• Excellent attention to detail and a pride in delivering high‑quality work.
• Good spoken and written English.
• Positive, professional attitude and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends.

Required skills

• Safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Knowledge of health‑and‑safety regulations, including COSHH and manual handling.
