HR Advisor

About the role

The HR Advisor will provide specialist advice and support to housing managers across a range of people‑related issues. Working closely with the Corporate HR Lead and HR Business Partners, the role ensures HR policies are applied consistently and that accurate people data is maintained.

Key responsibilities

• Assist managers with recruitment, including job description development, advertising liaison and interview panel participation.
• Support sickness absence and employee relations casework, obtaining medical reports and conducting investigations where required.
• Contribute to restructures and organisational change initiatives.
• Partner with the Learning and Development Coordinator to deliver workforce planning, training needs analysis and development plans.
• Lead or support HR projects such as staff health and wellbeing programmes and job evaluation processes.
• Provide timely and accurate people data, conduct annual employee data checks and produce reports.
• Maintain corporate HR policies and procedures, ensuring legal compliance and best practice.
• Chair job evaluation panels and manage external HR contracts.
• Oversee processes for apprentices, volunteers, recruitment, onboarding and leavers.
• Promote equality, diversity and inclusion across all HR activities.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in HR advisory or business partner roles, preferably within the public or housing sector.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practices.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Proactive approach to continuous improvement of HR processes.
