HR Advisor

About the role

We are looking for a proactive and experienced HR Advisor to support the delivery of people‑focused processes that align with organisational objectives. This varied generalist role provides day‑to‑day HR support, guidance and expertise across employee relations, absence management, learning and development and HR operations, while contributing to strategic HR initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide proactive advice to managers on employee relations, HR policies, wellbeing, flexible working and absence management.
• Manage an employee‑relations caseload, including investigations, hearings and ensuring compliance with legislation.
• Coach line managers on consistent and fair application of disciplinaries, grievances and performance management.
• Monitor and analyse absence trends and support managers in attendance and wellbeing management.
• Offer guidance on pay, terms and conditions and HR processes to employees and managers.
• Contribute to the development and review of HR policies and draft correspondence such as letters and contracts.
• Maintain HR systems with accurate data for reporting and trend analysis.
• Support strategic HR projects including wellbeing initiatives, employee engagement, learning and development, and change management (restructures, TUPE, redundancies).
• Liaise with payroll providers for starters, leavers and contractual changes, and support induction programmes.
• Assist recruitment activities, issue contracts, conduct pre‑employment checks and support onboarding, work experience and volunteer processes.

Required profile

• CIPD qualified or working towards qualification (desirable).
• Proven experience in a generalist HR role.
• Strong employee‑relations experience with ability to manage complex cases.
• Sound knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
• Confident communicator.
