About the role
The London Academy for Applied Technology is seeking an HR Assistant to support the HR Manager in day‑to‑day operations. This newly created role will help maintain accurate employee records, assist with recruitment and onboarding, and ensure compliance with HR policies and statutory requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain up‑to‑date electronic and physical employee records, including right‑to‑work, DBS, contracts and references.
- Support the full recruitment cycle: post adverts, schedule interviews, coordinate candidate communications and process pre‑employment checks.
- Prepare offer letters, contracts and manage probation reviews, contract renewals and appraisals.
- Monitor and record employee absences, annual leave and flag any irregularities.
- Track mandatory training (e.g., safeguarding, GDPR, Prevent) and keep CPD logs.
- Collate monthly payroll data and liaise with the payroll provider or Finance team.
- Assist in communicating HR policies, updating documentation and answering routine staff queries.
Required profile
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information.
- Organisational skills to handle multiple HR processes simultaneously.
- Proactive attitude with a willingness to support a growing HR function.
Required skills
- Experience with HR databases and record‑keeping systems.
- Familiarity with GDPR and data‑protection requirements.
- Basic knowledge of payroll data preparation.
