About the role
We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Assistant to support a large, flexible workforce within port operations in Immingham. The role sits at the heart of people operations, linking operational teams with employees and ensuring HR services are delivered accurately and efficiently.
Key responsibilities
- Support disciplinary, grievance, absence, and performance casework.
- Coordinate investigations, prepare documentation, and maintain case records.
- Monitor and manage absence, produce reports, track trends, and support return‑to‑work processes.
- Maintain accurate workforce records, including availability and shift data.
- Act as first point of contact for HR queries from workers and management.
- Support workforce engagement and resolve issues early.
- Manage training records, ensure compliance with mandatory requirements, and coordinate certification renewals.
- Maintain confidential medical and HR records in line with data protection standards.
- Produce reports on key HR metrics such as absence, compliance, and employee relations.
- Assist with onboarding, audits, and general HR administration.
Required profile
- Previous experience as an HR Assistant or in HR administration.
- Practical exposure to employee relations processes (disciplinary, grievance, absence management).
- Experience supporting high‑volume or operational workforces (e.g., logistics, industrial, agency).
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities with excellent attention to detail.
- Confident communication skills and professionalism in handling sensitive situations.
- Ability to analyse data, identify trends, and escalate issues appropriately.
- Proactive, resilient, and solutions‑focused approach.
