Human Resources Manager (2 Year FTC)

About the role

The Human Resources Manager will lead a project‑focused HR service for VSL UK on the Lower Thames Crossing programme. This fixed‑term role ensures people management excellence, full compliance with UK labour law, and alignment with VSL and Bouygues Group HR policies.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary HR business partner for the project leadership team, delivering practical, business‑focused advice.
• Support Project Directors and site leaders in managing people‑related matters in a high‑pressure environment.
• Provide trusted counsel on employee relations, workforce planning, organisational change and engagement.
• Ensure compliance with UK employment law, VSL HR policies and Bouygues Group procedures.
• Oversee employee administration – contracts, onboarding, right‑to‑work checks, visas, benefits and off‑boarding.
• Manage disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance processes in a fair, consistent and legally compliant manner.
• Coordinate recruitment activities with the Talent team to staff site‑based and project roles efficiently.
• Promote internal mobility across VSL and the wider Bouygues Group.
• Develop links with universities and training providers to support early‑career programmes, apprenticeships and graduate recruitment.
• Track and report HR metrics such as headcount, turnover, absence, gender diversity and recruitment figures, providing insights to project and UK HR leadership.

Required profile

• Relevant degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
• Solid experience as a generalist HR Manager or Senior HR Business Partner.
• Experience in construction, civil engineering, infrastructure or major projects is strongly preferred.
