ICT Test & Release Manager

About the role

Join the Merseyside Police Force as an ICT Test & Release Manager, working within a dedicated ICT Department to ensure the reliability of core IT systems. You will focus on planning, executing and reporting regression tests for cloud‑based platforms, primarily Oracle HCM/ERP/ECP and Microsoft 365 tools.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the full release cycle, developing and executing test plans for Oracle Cloud, Duty Management Systems and productivity suites.
• Create and validate testing criteria that meet functional standards across the organisation.
• Collaborate with project teams and business users to define consistent testing approaches and manage risks.
• Lead user test teams, document results and coordinate with software suppliers for change implementation.
• Identify automation opportunities and work with experts to improve testing efficiency.
• Estimate effort, flag potential delays and ensure quality is maintained throughout releases.

Required profile

• Degree‑level education or equivalent experience in Business or IT.
• ITIL Foundation qualification (additional service‑management certifications preferred).
• Extensive experience in test and release lifecycle coordination, including SAT and UAT.
• Proven leadership of cross‑functional teams and strong stakeholder communication.
• Analytical ability to assess requirements and recommend technical solutions.
