Immigration Litigation Lawyer

About the role

The Government Legal Department is seeking an experienced Immigration Litigation Lawyer to join its Home Office Immigration Division. Based in Leeds, you will support the Home Office in judicial review challenges and a wide range of immigration matters, from asylum and deportation to nationality and human trafficking cases.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the Home Office in public law and judicial review proceedings concerning immigration decisions.
• Develop and maintain knowledge resources, checklists, precedents and standard documents for the litigation team.
• Deliver legal training sessions, both online and in‑person, including inductions and specialised updates.
• Collaborate with L&D specialists, panel law firms and internal stakeholders to design relevant training programmes.
• Capture and disseminate legal insights and best practices across the department.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with a strong background in immigration and public law litigation.
• Demonstrated ability to manage high‑profile, complex cases.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Proactive approach to knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
