Import Clerk – Freight Forwarding

About the role

This is a hands‑on operational position supporting an established freight forwarding business in the West Midlands. You will manage import shipments from quotation through to completion, ensuring smooth customs clearance and customer communication.

Key responsibilities

• Manage import shipments from quotation to final delivery.
• Complete and monitor CDS customs entries.
• Prepare and process all required import documentation.
• Liaise with customers, overseas agents and service providers.
• Coordinate deliveries and movement of shipments.
• Act as the primary point of contact for customers, resolving queries.
• Raise job files, prepare invoices and provide quotations where needed.

Required profile

• Previous experience in freight forwarding, imports or customs clearance.
• Proficiency using CDS for import customs declarations.
• Strong customer service and communication abilities.
• Comfortable working in a busy operational environment.
• Attention to detail and good organisational skills.

Required skills

• CDS (Customs Declaration Service)
• ASM Sequoia (preferred but not mandatory)
