In-house Housing Disrepair & Property Litigation Lawyer

About the role

This permanent, full‑time position is based in Manchester and supports an established social housing provider. As an In‑house Housing Disrepair & Property Litigation Lawyer you will manage a diverse caseload, advise operational teams and help minimise legal risk across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage housing disrepair claims from instruction through to resolution, ensuring compliance with legislation and legal protocols.
• Provide expert advice on housing disrepair, property litigation and access‑related matters.
• Represent the organisation in court proceedings and lead on obtaining legal access for inspections, repairs and safety works.
• Collaborate with operational teams to improve processes, reduce litigation costs and mitigate risk.
• Analyse claims data and emerging trends to support service improvement and compliance.
• Keep the organisation updated on developments in housing legislation, regulation and best practice.
• Manage and support junior members of the legal team.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor with a minimum of two years post‑qualification experience.
• Proven expertise in housing disrepair and property litigation.
• Strong knowledge of relevant housing legislation, civil procedure and litigation processes.
• Experience handling complex, high‑volume caseloads to conclusion.
• Understanding of the social housing sector and its regulatory framework.
• Ability to provide clear, practical legal advice to a range of stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and analytical skills.
• Commercially aware and solutions‑focused.
