Independent Non-Executive Director

About the role

Join the Board of Smaller Authorities’ Audit Appointments Ltd as an Independent Non‑Executive Director. This part‑time, remote position will help shape strategy, uphold integrity and guide AI‑enabled growth for a trusted not‑for‑profit public body.

Key responsibilities

• Attend quarterly Board meetings and occasional additional sessions.
• Develop and set the company’s strategy and policy in line with the Nolan principles.
• Promote the highest standards of integrity, probity and corporate governance.
• Monitor implementation of Board decisions and review auditor quality reports.
• Represent the Company at events and act as a spokesperson when appropriate.
• Liaise with the CEO and senior staff to maintain an overview of the Company’s affairs.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ethical leadership and commitment to public‑sector governance.
• Experience in senior oversight or board roles within not‑for‑profit or public organisations.
• Ability to work independently and contribute constructively in remote settings.
