Information Technology Consultant – Remote (Greater Manchester)

About the role

We are seeking an Information Technology Consultant to deliver expert technical support and guidance to our customers across Greater Manchester. Working remotely with regular on‑site visits, you will help improve client systems, manage cloud and on‑premise solutions and build lasting relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality remote, on‑site and phone support across diverse customer environments.
• Use the HG IT service desk platform to deliver responsive, personable assistance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues independently, escalating when necessary.
• Implement and manage cloud and on‑premise technical solutions autonomously.
• Deliver clear technical advice and recommendations tailored to each customer.
• Support project delivery such as cloud migrations, network upgrades and hardware installations.
• Proactively monitor customer networks, respond to alerts and prevent service impact.
• Build and maintain strong, trusting relationships with customers.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a 2nd line, field engineer or IT support role.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with strong documentation skills.
• Self‑motivated, proactive and able to manage workload independently.
• Full UK driving licence and own vehicle.

Required skills

• Microsoft 365 administration and modern management.
• Intune device management.
• Windows Desktop and Server environments.
• Networking concepts: DHCP, DNS, routing, VLANs, VPNs.
• Backup systems, antivirus platforms, RMM tools and monitoring solutions.
