Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

Thales is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to manage and evolve its UK infrastructure estate. The role combines day‑to‑day operational support with project delivery across platforms, virtualization and server technologies, ensuring a reliable and secure environment for critical defence and aerospace services.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to incidents and service requests in line with SLA targets.
• Maintain the infrastructure estate through patching, updates and fault diagnosis.
• Plan and execute the remediation of obsolete hardware and software.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve complex technical issues.
• Drive change management activities and document lifecycle events.
• Create and keep accurate records of services, assets and documentation.
• Implement technical solutions that meet specifications and improve service quality.
• Participate in service transition processes and contribute to continuous improvement plans.
• Work closely with the CSOC on intelligence alerts and cyber‑attack responses.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or at least three years of third‑line support experience.
• Strong organisational and communication abilities, able to work independently or within a team.
• Proactive attitude toward learning emerging infrastructure technologies.
• Commitment to service improvement and adherence to change‑management procedures.

Required skills

• VMware virtualization (VMware Certified Professional preferred).
• Microsoft server technologies (MCP, MCSA, MCSE).
• ITIL Foundation knowledge.
• AWS cloud services (AWS certification desirable).
• Experience with patch management, fault finding and infrastructure documentation.
