Infrastructure Engineer – Secure Digital Platforms

About the role

Join a team that supports Defence and National Security by designing, deploying and maintaining secure digital platforms. As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer you will work on highly classified environments, collaborating with architects and delivery specialists to enable faster, safer decision‑making for critical operations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, improve and secure multi‑classification virtualised, collaboration and development environments.
• Enhance ‘Secure by Design’ capabilities across projects and internal services.
• Provide infrastructure support for public‑cloud SaaS (Office 365) and project‑based systems spanning public, private and hybrid clouds.
• Execute maintenance tasks through formal change‑control processes.
• Monitor, triage and act on alerts, ensuring platforms are patched according to provider recommendations and security policy.
• Assess incident impact, drive return‑to‑service and follow‑up actions.
• Identify trends, plan changes to improve stability and performance.
• Develop expertise in secure cloud and network technologies and pursue relevant certifications.
• Advise customers and project teams on infrastructure and support aspects, and create knowledge articles for wider use.

Required profile

• UK nationality and eligibility for Security Clearance.
• Ability to work onsite in Farnborough five days a week.
• Proven experience in secure infrastructure design and delivery.

• VMware vSphere, vCenter and VCF.
• Windows Server administration.
• Linux administration.
• Office 365 (public‑cloud SaaS) support.
• Public, private and hybrid cloud technologies.
• Monitoring and alerting tools.
• Change‑control and patch‑management processes.
