Interim Financial Controller

About the role

This interim position offers a hands‑on opportunity to lead the finance function of a well‑established not‑for‑profit organisation in Manchester. The role is temporary, with the potential to extend into a longer‑term appointment, and includes hybrid working.

Key responsibilities

• Lead budgeting, forecasting, management accounts and year‑end processes.
• Prepare and monitor annual budgets, cash flow forecasts and financial plans.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, funding requirements and audit standards; act as main contact for auditors.
• Produce accurate financial reports, management information and statutory returns for senior stakeholders.
• Oversee procurement, grant funding and financial controls to guarantee value for money.
• Manage and develop a small finance team, providing leadership and performance management.
• Maintain relationships with banks, insurers, software providers and other external partners.

Required profile

• Professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
• Previous senior finance role covering both financial and management accounting.
• Experience with financial compliance, audit procedures and grant funding.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Proven leadership experience in managing a finance team.
