Interim Head of Curriculum – Visual Arts

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Interim Head of Curriculum to lead visual‑arts provision for a leading post‑16 education provider in London. This temporary, full‑time position offers an immediate start and the chance to shape curriculum quality, student outcomes and teaching standards in a creative learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for curriculum delivery, ensuring high‑quality teaching and learning.
• Drive quality‑improvement initiatives through self‑assessment, performance monitoring and improvement plans.
• Lead, coach and develop curriculum staff, managing performance and professional development.
• Oversee student progress, retention, achievement and pastoral support processes.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organisational objectives.
• Build relationships with employers, schools, universities and other stakeholders.
• Deliver outstanding teaching as part of the role.

Required profile

• Degree‑level qualification with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Proven experience leading curriculum teams in Further Education, Sixth Form, College or post‑16 settings.
• Strong track record of curriculum development and quality improvement.
• Experience managing staff performance and driving positive learner outcomes.
• Excellent understanding of 16‑19 study programmes and learner support.
• Ability to use data to improve performance and achievement.
