Interim Packaging Engineer – FMCG (12‑month maternity cover)

About the role

We are seeking an interim Packaging Engineer to join Unilever’s Skin Care division, supporting the global Simple brand. This 12‑month maternity‑cover position is based at the R&D facility in Port Sunlight Village and offers a hybrid working model.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, qualify and deliver primary and secondary packaging solutions for global Simple projects.
• Design and create prototypes, conduct testing and analysis to ensure quality, regulatory compliance and consumer standards.
• Manage packaging projects from concept through implementation, maintaining cost‑efficiency and schedule.
• Collaborate with external suppliers to source sustainable materials at competitive prices.
• Evaluate new packaging technologies and recommend improvements for sustainability and cost savings.

Required profile

• Proven experience in packaging engineering within an FMCG or consumer‑goods environment.
• Ability to lead multiple projects and work cross‑functionally with R&D, brand, planning, procurement and quality teams.
• Strong communication skills to engage both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
