Internal Communications Officer (Fixed-Term)

About the role

The National Audit Office is seeking an Internal Communications Officer on a fixed‑term contract until March 2027. You will join a hybrid team working from London or Newcastle, supporting internal communication initiatives across the organisation. The role reports to the Head of Internal Communications and collaborates closely with the Internal Communications Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver corporate communications for business partner areas such as Facilities, Change & Transformation, Digital Services and Knowledge.
• Create and manage engaging content for internal channels, including Viva Engage, intranet news, and newsletters.
• Support change projects and strategic communications delivered by the wider communications team.
• Produce measurable communications plans for corporate initiatives and advise stakeholders on best practice.
• Assist Knowledge and Insight Hubs in crafting and executing their engagement plans.

Required profile

• Proven experience in internal communications within a public‑sector or similar environment.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, able to build collaborative relationships with senior staff.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to craft compelling stories.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, meet tight deadlines and work within limited budgets.

Required skills

• Experience using Viva Engage for community building.
• Familiarity with intranet publishing platforms.
