Investigative Journalist (Remote, Contract)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced investigative journalist to produce original news stories, features and in‑depth articles on a contract basis. This fully remote position offers flexibility with a commitment of 10‑40 hours per week.

Key responsibilities

• Research, pitch, and develop original news stories and investigative pieces.
• Conduct interviews, gather firsthand insights and verify facts using authoritative sources.
• Write clear, compelling, and accurate articles tailored to diverse audiences.
• Edit and proofread content to ensure clarity, consistency and adherence to editorial standards.
• Collaborate with editors, designers and other journalists to enhance content quality.
• Monitor current events, trends and issues relevant to assigned beats.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a journalist with a strong portfolio of published work.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to conduct interviews and synthesize complex information.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently and meet tight deadlines in a remote setting.
• High degree of curiosity, initiative and critical thinking.
• Solid understanding of media law, ethics and best practices.
