Java Software Engineer – Hybrid (Leeds)

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Java Software Engineer to join our agile, multi‑disciplinary team in Leeds. The role is hybrid, requiring three days a week on‑site, and offers the chance to lead technical delivery while actively coding.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Java and Angular codebases, implementing new features in partnership with Product Owners and Architects.
• Provide technical leadership, guiding the team, conducting code reviews and establishing engineering best practices.
• Support services during office hours, proactively identifying and fixing faults.
• Mentor and coach junior developers to raise overall team capability.
• Drive continuous learning and creative problem‑solving within the team.

Required profile

• Proven hands‑on experience with AWS services (ECR, ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, Step Functions, Apigee).
• Strong background in Java (Spring Boot), AngularJS, Node.js (v10) and TypeScript.
• Experience with CI/CD and quality tooling such as GitLab, Jenkins, Maven, Docker, Fortify, SonarQube.
• Familiarity with testing frameworks (Cypress, Selenium, BDD‑Gherkin, Karate, Cucumber, Jest).
• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
