Joiner – Maintenance & Refurbishment (MOD Sites)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Joiner to deliver planned and reactive maintenance works across Ministry of Defence sites in the Colchester region. Working within secure defence environments, you will perform first and second fix joinery tasks to keep military accommodation and operational buildings to the highest standards.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out first and second fix joinery on refurbishment, maintenance and fit‑out projects.
• Install kitchens, doors, door frames, skirting boards, architraves, window boards and flooring.
• Undertake partitioning, boxing‑in and general carpentry repairs.
• Fit ironmongery and make required adjustments.
• Ensure all work meets health and safety, quality and compliance requirements.
• Maintain tools, equipment and a clean, safe working environment.
• Provide excellent customer service while working in occupied and secure MOD properties.

Required profile

• NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Carpentry & Joinery (or equivalent) or time‑served experience.
• Proven experience in refurbishment, maintenance or responsive repairs (new‑build only is insufficient).
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to obtain and maintain MOD security clearance.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high‑quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Good understanding of health and safety procedures.
