Junior Data Scientist

About the role

Norton Rose Fulbright is building a new R&D capability focused on data‑driven and AI‑enabled legal services. The Junior Data Scientist will work within this team to develop foundational data assets, turn raw data into actionable insights, and support senior colleagues on AI and analytics projects. This early‑career position is ideal for someone with strong analytical fundamentals who enjoys exploring unfamiliar data and communicating findings clearly.

Key responsibilities

• Profile and explore internal and external datasets, identifying quality issues, outliers, bias and missing data.
• Use SQL and Python in Fabric and Databricks workspaces to prepare, validate and visualise analytical datasets.
• Form and test hypotheses, suggesting additional data enrichment or modelling to add value.
• Support the development and evaluation of baseline statistical and machine‑learning models (classification, regression, clustering, time‑series).
• Assist with text analysis, embeddings, similarity analysis and evaluation of AI‑assisted features.
• Document assumptions, metrics and data‑quality improvements using Git, notebooks and tests.

• Ability to communicate technical findings to both technical and business audiences.
