Junior Designer, Accessories

About the role

River Island’s Design Team creates affordable, trend‑forward fashion that reflects the brand’s distinctive style. As a Junior Designer – Accessories, you will support the full product development cycle, turning concepts into market‑ready pieces that drive commercial success.

Key responsibilities

• Develop accessory products from concept through to final sample, aligning with key trends and commercial opportunities.
• Apply strong knowledge of fabric, engineering, fit and quality to achieve high technical standards and a high first‑sample hit rate.
• Research market and customer insights to contribute ideas for product development discussions.
• Support range planning by understanding sales history, margin targets and commercial goals.
• Collaborate with buying teams, suppliers and fabric mills to identify newness opportunities.

Required profile

• Previous experience as an Assistant Designer or equivalent.
• Relevant design qualifications and a portfolio of design work.
• Foundational commercial awareness and strong organisational abilities.
• Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Photoshop.
