Junior Employee Relations Specialist

About the role

Travis Perkins plc is recruiting a Junior Employee Relations Specialist for its HR Shared Service Employee Relations team in Northampton. The role provides effective, efficient, responsive and commercial employee relations advice and support by phone to all businesses within the Group, with a continuous improvement mindset. It is a permanent, full-time position (37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday) based in the Northampton office three to four days a week, with half a day working from home.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first-class advice and guidance on employee relations matters by telephone to colleagues, managers and senior leaders, logging calls on a CRM tool, ensuring advice is commercial, impartial, consistent, legally compliant and in line with company policies
• Analyse and advise on risks and costs to the business
• With support, manage a low volume of dispute resolution cases such as gross misconduct disciplinarys, appeals and grievances
• Support the Employee Relations Specialists with administrative tasks such as medical referrals, letters and document collation for Subject Access Requests
• Assist with employee relations-related business projects as required

Required profile

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar HR role
• Excellent communication skills and ability to multitask under pressure
• Up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation and a good understanding of data protection principles
• Ability to handle difficult or complex situations
• Confident, respectful challenger at all levels
• Driving licence and own mode of transport
