Junior Town Planner

About the role

Penguin Recruitment is supporting a leading property and land consultancy in Cambridge to hire a Junior Town Planner. This role offers an ambitious planning professional the chance to develop their career within a well‑established consultancy, working on a varied portfolio of projects alongside experienced planners, landowners and developers.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with a wide range of planning applications and development projects.
• Undertake planning research and provide support on planning matters.
• Prepare planning statements, reports and other documentation.
• Support senior colleagues with client instructions and project delivery.
• Liaise with local planning authorities, consultants and other stakeholders.
• Monitor planning policies and emerging development plans.
• Assist with site appraisals and planning assessments.

Required profile

• Degree qualified in Town Planning or a related subject.
• Working towards MRTPI or keen to progress towards chartership.
• Some relevant planning experience in consultancy, local government or a similar environment.
• Organised, proactive and commercially aware.
• Strong written and analytical communication skills.
• Motivated to develop technical planning knowledge and progress professionally.
