Key Account Manager – Steel Wire Rope (Hemel Hempstead)

About the role

Our client, an £8 million UK business with 45 staff, is expanding its Wire Rope Division. They are looking for a proactive Key Account Manager to own strategic customer accounts, drive retention, growth and profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and develop a portfolio of strategic key accounts within the Wire Rope Division.
• Build strong relationships with decision‑makers, buyers, engineers and operational stakeholders.
• Increase customer spend, share‑of‑wallet and profitability across assigned accounts.
• Develop and maintain structured Key Account Plans and conduct regular business reviews.
• Identify cross‑selling and upselling opportunities and support inbound enquiries and quotations.
• Collaborate with internal Sales, Operations, Purchasing and Leadership teams.
• Monitor performance, trends, risks and opportunities using CRM and reporting tools.
• Maintain accurate forecasts, account plans and customer records.
• Support contract negotiations, pricing discussions and act as the voice of the customer.

Required profile

• Proven track record in Key Account Management, business development or strategic sales.
• Strong background in technical sales, preferably within manufacturing, engineering, construction materials, safety or wire‑rope sectors.
• Self‑driven, ambitious and thrives in a performance‑led culture.
