Lab Technician

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Optical Lab Technician to join our Specsavers store in Burnley. You will work in a busy optical laboratory, preparing and finishing glasses to meet prescription specifications while supporting a friendly retail environment.

Key responsibilities

• Read lens and frame specifications from prescriptions and translate them into production orders.
• Operate blocking and glazing machines to cut lenses to the correct shape and size.
• Assemble lenses into frames and apply tinting for UV protection and colour options.
• Order frames and lenses and manage inventory levels.
• Perform quality checks on completed glasses to ensure accuracy and safety.
• Maintain a clean work area and perform routine machine maintenance.

Required profile

• Strong communication skills and a customer‑focused attitude.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability.
• Flexible, adaptable and able to work a full‑time schedule including a weekend day.
• Ability to manage time effectively and work well within a team.

Required skills

• Operating blocking and glazing machines for lens cutting.
• Lens tinting and UV coating application.
• Quality checking of optical products.
• Machine maintenance and housekeeping in a laboratory setting.

What we offer

• Salary of £26,000 per year.
• 37.5‑hour full‑time contract with one weekend day.
