Lead Android Developer – Fintech – Up to £110,000 – Leeds (Hybrid)

About the role

You will join a fast‑growing fintech start‑up as the lead of a six‑person Android team, building the mobile services that power a payments platform used across Europe, the UK and the US. You will tackle complex technical challenges, work with the latest Android technologies and help shape the technical roadmap together with the engineering manager.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and ongoing maintenance of the company’s Android applications.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and cross‑functional teams to define, design and implement new features.
• Optimize application performance, ensure high responsiveness and maintain quality standards.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers.
• Stay up‑to‑date with industry advancements and incorporate best practices.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain high code quality.
• Troubleshoot and debug issues to improve reliability.

Required profile

• Proven experience in Android development using Kotlin.
• Strong experience leading or managing development teams.
• Experience with Jetpack Compose and connecting Android apps to back‑end APIs.
• Knowledge of modern mobile architectures such as MVVM, MVP or MVI.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and effective communication skills.
• Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of mobile security best practices.
