Lead Cloud Operations Engineer – AWS, EC2 & EKS

About the role

We are seeking a Lead Cloud Operations Engineer to join a high‑profile government programme delivering secure communication services. Working within a hybrid model in London, you will guide a growing engineering team and ensure the reliability, security and scalability of critical AWS‑based platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and optimise AWS infrastructure including EC2, EKS, ECS, RDS, IAM and VPC.
• Lead the implementation of containerised workloads using Kubernetes and related tooling.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Administer and tune databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL and Aurora.
• Collaborate with security and compliance teams to achieve required clearances.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive continuous improvement across operations.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on AWS cloud experience.
• 5+ years of Linux systems administration.
• 3+ years of Kubernetes and containerisation experience.
• 3+ years of Terraform/IaC expertise.
• Strong background in database administration (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Aurora).
• Eligibility for UK security clearance.
